Yesterday was a special day! Yesterday was a day off, with a mate, an engine hoist, and a freshly finished 1600 MX5 engine to drop into my Vortx. By
2pm we were lowering the engine in, fitting snuggly. Propshaft slid into the gearbox with little fuss and I really thought progress was being made.
Before I finally lowered the engine onto its mounting points, I thought I'd put a couple of bolts through the propshaft flange plate and into the
diff so as to align everything up. Imagine my frustration when bolt number 2 wouldn't go in! I removed bolt number 1 again and held the plate
upto the diff to see a 4mm difference on each hole! At this point I realised I should've checked this months ago when all the parts from the
donor pack were collected from MNR. Presumption is the mother of all.....?! I also realised that the only way to get the propshaft in or indeed out
again, was through the back of the car, as I had placed it in the tunnel months ago before mounting the diff and getting a rolling chassis.
Spoke to a local MX5 specialist who confirmed the propshaft that had been remanufactured for my car was from an 1800 and not a 1600. Apparantly the
flange plate is a little bigger on the 1800cc!!!
Car is still a rolling chassis. Engine is still on a pallet. Propshaft is still in the tunnel. I am a little wiser.

Anyway, back on topic, life is a hard teacher sometimes. One never makes those sort of mistake twice!

Sounds like a job for Propshaft Services aka Bailey Morris - must be a branch near you.
The other good news is they are sensible on price.

i'd contact MNR, and ask them? sounds like they supplied the wrong one, so they should sort it for you.
did you say the donor parts came from MNR?
if not, and its a mistake on your part, dunning and fairbank get my vote for making props 
sorry to hear that...I've had to remove my diff a few times to remove the prop (I'm also building a Miata MNR)...but that was due to my own
fault
