INDY BIRD - 6/4/11 at 01:15 PM

hi all i have 15" wheels on the mnr at present and need to change them to 13 as want to run slicks on 13's.

Question was, currently i have 15" pro race 1.2 7" rims with 38 offset, 205/50 tyre

What have people fitted to there cars if they have changes to 13" rims>or would reccomend??

ps if you know of any for sale or best place to get them please u2u me,

Thanks as always

do check that they will clear the rear callipers if you have them as it can be tight sometimes with sierra brakes. It’s what prevented me going to disks at the back

Just go for a 7" x 13" with the same 38mm offset

If you do end up with 13" wheels and want to sell your 15's give me a thought! Cheers Ray

Look at Midland Wheel for wheels and maybe tyres.
Try Camskill for tyres.

you need caterham offset like mine. 6" front 8" rears et 25 or 23 i think. cant remember which

Defo check the clearance. I can only run 14" with my current set up.

For wheels this would be the only place I would look:

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list.asp?s=1072 some very nice wheels here and if you check often and be quick you can get some very good deals.

Camskill are good for price. Ebay for slicks.

hi daniel any pics of the wheels you have?

and do they fit over std sierra rear discs and calipers of is it a small mod req?

Thanks

this is the best one i have at the moment, from a while back. they are 13" caterham r500 rims with a048's

Hi daniel

thanks for the pics,

do the fit under the std rear arches then? or do you have to go for a wider rear arch etc? and same for the fronts?

sorry for all the questions,

Thanks

i think most people run 185/60/13 fronts but the mnr front upright and wing stays (which are part of the upright) are designed for a 195/50/15 rim which would have meant a huge gap between arch and tyre. so i decides to go 205/60/13 which is similar. it fits under the arch fine.
as for the rears. a guy on here sells a modified caliper spring which is one coil smaller and the rims fit fine

dude..

I run ET18 7" Compomotive CXR fronts - anything from a 185 up to a 215 at a stretch. I would say you have loads of flexibility with the front offset and could run almost anything - ET38 being normal front wheel drive ford.

On the back is ET22 or 24 (I think) 8" Compomotive CXR's - anything up to a 245 but they bulge at that. I would be careful with the springs if you have the Sierra calipers, they need modified if you are to fit CXRS and also make sure that wheel weights are a few inches outboard otherwise they hit.

Can double check the measurements if you plan to buy - give me a shout if you like and I can go out to the garage.

Cheers
Paul
