MNR GM update!
MK9R - 26/10/13 at 03:28 PM

Just had a couple of days up at MNR with Marc to get the body fitted and roll cage made. Its been slow going at times but this has really given us a massive burst of enthusiasm!!!

This is body no3 being dropped onto a standard MNR Vortx for the first time. The only modification required is the back stays having to be removed from the roll cage. Obviously this will be replace with a front facing brace, or big cut outs in the rear deck.

The 4th body is currently being laid up in the mould, anyone want no5????

looking good austen! is there any way to make a removeable bootlid to enable rear stays?
and then on to problem number 1; make it handle like a fury!

Yeah that's an option, its just the huge cut out weeks the body so much. That's why I went with front stays on my car.

I don't want to make it handle like the fury, I'd like it to handle properly ;-). That's a bit unfair but I bet this new chassis is 5 times stiffer and suspension so much easier to setup I hoping it will be far superior straight out the box.

Cant you make the rears removable?

Yeah TIM we thought of something like this too. Dave's had to be CIT off anyway as the corner of the car and stays were bent after the impact at cadwell.

I like Daniels idea of the lid. I reckon if the deck is cut out between the outsides of cage and as far back as where the stays go through the body will stay ridged enough. The lid can then be fitted to the chassis.

even a body with a half circle notched into the rear panel (around the outer half of the rear stay) meaning the bootlid with a half circle notched at each(the inner half of the stay) side would do.
