R1 loom to MNR loom connections?
amalyos - 2/1/06 at 09:14 PM

Does anyone have details of the connections I have to make between the R1 loom and the MNR custom loom?

I don't think there are many, mainly sensors and indicators (i'm using the R1 clocks), but the main area I need some help is with the ignition, as I'm using the Sierra ignition switch.

A diagram would be great if anyone has one.

I have connected both looms straight to the battery. That's power and ground sorted.

You will need to connect the crank from the sierra key switch into the bike's ignition. The car has a switched positive and the bike a switched negative, but don't worry. Short out the stop switch, and start switch. Cut the wire on the bike loom feeding 12V to the start relay coil and connect your crank here.

I conneted 4 more wires, all of which went to the "headlight" sub loom that connects to the clocks. The wires were sidelights (for the clock back light), Main beam warning, indicator L and R.

Simple.

Sorry to be a bit thick, (not very good with the electrics), but I don't have the start switch, stop switch, and not sure which cable to cut for the starter relay coil.

Could you identify the cable colours for me so I can match it up with the R1 wiring diagram.

Cheers

Steve.

I have closed the start, stop, clutch and side stand switches by soldering the two wires together. I left the main switch open and removed all the lights. A resistor in place of the fuel level sensor stops the low fuel light comming on.

BTW, this drawing is not guaranteed to be right.

Thanks for the diagram, it does simplify the diagram from the manual. I'll have a good look over it tonght.

Cheers.

The diagram did simplify the R1 Haynes one. I have now created a basic diagram showing the connections to the MNR loom. Just hope it works when I get it in the car!!

Thanks again.

I know what you mean, i've spent a few evenings on the manuals, but I think it makes sense now!!!

It will be a few months before I get to fire her up, but if you need it before let me know.

Steve.
