Hey all,
Just curious as to whether everyone's chassis came with sikaflex or similar in between the floor pan and chassis members?
Chris.
I used a PU sealant/adhesive (same as Sikaflex, but much cheaper) when I fitted the ally floor and other panels to my Indy. If your floor has already
been fitted without any sealant/adhesive, then just run a small bead where the panels meet the chassis, like you would round a bath.

my chassis came with the aly floor bonded and riveted in place. Saved me a lot of hand ache with a riveter.
Hi
I did the same as Nick suggested, where the floor met the chassis, I ran a bead of polyurethane sealant inside and out. Same on all the panels that
come into contact with the chassis and any weather.
Looks very neat and sticks like the proverbial!!.

More importantly you should squirt thinned-down waxoyl down chassis sections. That coupled with a sealant/adhesive goes a long way to deterring dissimilar metal corrosion (galvanic action) twixt rivets, floorpan & chassis. BTW, I used 3mm Polypropylene for my floor - good enough for Karting, quieter and lighter than ally + no corrosion issues.
ABS or polycarbonate might be a better option if you want to use plastics. They are self extinguishing whereas polyprop is flamable

Cheers guys.
The rear pan has been fixed with sealant but the front looks like it may have been missed. I'll just run a bead around as Nick and Dave suggest.
Job sorted!
Thanks guys...
Just got back from the garage after fitting footwell panels and brake master cylinders! Made a start! 8D
Anybody know what exactly MNR use to seal/bond the floor to the chassis???
Or
Anybody know if polyurethane is the best goo to use b/n powder-coat and aluminium sheet?
I'm having to attach the floor myself and have been provided a tube of "polyurethane" by my agent, but I've read elsewhere that PU
doesn't stick so well to powder-coat.
Thanks for any info' you can provide.
Now going back to finish drilling the 175 holes in the chassis for the floor alone!
Steve, in the NLs
A decent PU sealent will stick to pretty much anything.
I used sikaflex:
