hello does anyone know how to fit a fuel sender in a vortx without the need for rivnuts(as per spec sheet) ! and is this right 5 holes in sender and
six on seal??
And if there is no other way is there someone in newcastle with a rivnut tool??

I would say you have the wrong rubber seal.

Ok the gasket is no biggy - just make new holes for it - in between the other holes.
Is glue petrol reistant? Just a question?
If you cant use 'rivnuts' - I'd use - it also depends on how thick your tank is - you could get away with using SELF TAPPERS - if you
are very, very, very gentle with them.
If you can wait though - hop on Ebay and get a Rivnut tool
Cheers,
Murray
cheers guys but didnt want to put glue in with the petrol- thats why i asked!!!
ill have a look on ebay if they are cheap enough!
....£45 i dont know if i can justify for a tool that i wont use again???
plus ill need some inserts..
Just as an aside Krism... It looks like you've owned some pretty nice cars in your time! Like the Audi especially.
What motor did the Brabus have? Power to weight?
You must be chuffed with those new all tubular chassis's They look so slick!
Good luck with the rest of the build bud.
Chris.
Kris,
Try this link £22.00 + delivery - scroll down for the budget one.
You can put it back on Ebay once you have finished so shouldn't cost you too much in the end :p
But you say you'll only use once - I bet you'll use it a lot more ;-)

Daft Lad Picko - 19/3/06 at 06:51 PMCan I add one thing, I had the 6 bolt model of the sender (to fit your seal), when you drill the holes, DO NOT presume all the mounting holes are equi-distant from each other. I drilled the holes using the seal as a template. When I offered the sender up, with the float arm pointing towards the middel of the tank, only 3 holes matched up. I quickly sorted this with much swearing, a can of stella and bute force and ignorance. Just a quick note to say be careful.
Krismc - 19/3/06 at 08:59 PMquote:thanks for that mate... cause i would have just drilled away.
only 3 holes matched up.
and whats the best sort of sealer to use then.....????
