Hey all,
Being a doof tonight...
Which springs are on the front? The 250's or the 350's?
Plus, when fitting the front wishbones I noticed a large amount of castor angle. The top and bottom ball joints are not central to each other looking
from above. Is this normal?
Ta for any help,
Chris.
350s on the front 250s on the rear
yep plenty of castor is the norm
Thanks for that Marc!
I was completely bolloxed last night for some reason... Couldn't seem to work anything out!
Ta again,
Chris.
Just another quick one Marc...
The castor angle is inherent to the design isn't it?
This can't be altered 'on the fly'?
Chris.
If you are using Sierra front uprights (I assume you are) it can be adjusted with adustable mushroom inserts I believe.
Adam
Aaaaaaaaah....
It all makes sense now. That was another question I was curious about...
What is the default setting for the mushroom insert? With the hole facing directly towards the chassis? Or slightly off?
I suppose that is fine tuned when all the geometry is setup properly for the first time. (?)
Chris.
Winston the Mushroom can be used to adjust front geomatry.
A quick tip - mark the top of both mushroom adapters on the edge in the same place ( a quick tap with a center punch ) so you can quicly tell where
the inserts are in preportion to the upright.
will help loads when you are fine tunning your setup to your tastes.
I will take some photos tonight if required. Though your settings may be diferaent ( I had no problems with self centering thanks the V8 )

any one know the rough angles to set all wheels on a RT Plus before i drop it down tighten up and throw the engine in?
Kris.
Should not go too far wrong with a degree in toe either side. and about the same camber ( but needs to hit the deck before setting that )
Ps Throwing your engine in From what distance ?? other side of the garage. ? half way down the drive ? .

well i aint got a crane yet, so it might be a bit like this......
drag the engine stand and tilt over car, loosen the bolts, then roll the bugger into place.........
think thats will be ok, or think i should do a risk assesment first??
Kris where are you ?
If MNR are close to you let me know I can soon drop mine over there and you can borrow.
Only down side need a largish car as it the base unbolts from the arm but thats as far as it comes apart.

Thanks for all the useful info once again Ian!
Took your advice and have marked the mushrooms. I am right in thinking that that the nut on the end of the ball joint that goes through the mushroom
is accessible from below when the suspension and wheel is fully assembled?
Chris.
well i pass MNR every week or so, they said i could lend theres, but i would hate to leave them short, especially if i have bother and i need the stand for a while... to lift engine in and out, cause im trying to make a hydraulic clutch ass and may not work first time, same with you i wouldn want to put you out!!!
evening Chaps
Chris with a C tigthen them up you can get to them after but remeber that the mushroom will swivel as the ball joint can let the mushroom swivel
free.
Kris with a K I will have a word with Marc and let you know. but mine is dismanteled and leant against the side of the garage ( I aint planning engine
out till winter ) I will let you know after the weekend but I am reasnobally sure that it wont be a problem to leave mine at marc's ( just in
