phoned up demon tweeks to order some harnesses, they asked if i wanted catheram style or westfield style???
Does any one know! and any cheaper places to buy from, although i do get 10% of demon tweeks prices so not that bad at £40 for TRS harnesses!
and im guessing i have to get lap belt style for SVA compliance
....this is the westfield style
and catheham
all i can work out is the ends are different i gater i need the eyelet style ones at top!

I phoned up TRS when I was building and purchased direct from them. The chap was very helpful and asked me what I would like at each end - I opted for
bolt plates at the base and eyelet hooks on the top. I explained it was for a seven with top fixings on the roll bar - what arrived was perfect.
Cheers
Phone up sabelt direct. I got mine made for me in the italian factory to my spec for less than TRS etc quote.
(insert usual bit about my order being delayed to make a Michael Sch, shu, german blokes harnesses - its a lie, but they are made by the same people,
on the same production line.)
I went bolt in all round so its harder for a to rag to steal them. BUT, clip on tops gives you a lot more flexibility of angles when mounting.
The ones which are specifically for 7s have the lap adjusters in the opposite direction meaning they are easier to alter with little or no room
between seat and chassis.

I cheated and got some demon thieves at stoneleigh. I paid £55 for 2 6 point willans harnesses! Although they can't be used for motor sport past the end of 2007. But at that price, I who cares?
yep got them to do that for me as well as making them handed so the release always goes to the middle of the car (almost got them to do it on the crotch strap till the bloke talked me out of it, seems a lot of people when nipping to the shops don't do up the crotch.

I did ask, and they were a stock clearance item. Also in their original boxes and very clean. Race harnesses stretch when used in a crash and are then binned. They stretch a certain amount and next time would go to that stretch and then stretch again. Ie might not save you. Not sure about normal car belts, since I've never crashed a car and not written it off!
sorry miss read your post, thought you meant they originally came from demon theives and you got them second hand.
Looks like you've got a bargin. Well done.
I thought i did well getting some electic split tube for 1/3 list price and two car batteries at show price (no vat) & free delivery. I'm an
amature in comparison!
any prices/contact numbers for sabelt or TRS!!
The best bit came when I got home and looked up the actual price from them. £350 inc vat + p&p!! Bargain of the year for me.
I may be wrong BUT...
I recall reading some where that only the supersport 4 point harnesses ( Williams ) were E approved for road use - the 6 point Club ones were FIA
approved but not road legal..
May be wrong but worth checking out...
you are right when i spoke to demon tweeks they said that there was onlly a few harness i could get away with for the SVA
These are for post sva fitment. I'll have to fit them and then remove for the sva. I'll probably be asking to borrow some when the time comes! Seemed silly to not buy them when they have 3" straps and the light weight ally adjustment things. Only problem is mine one will be blue and the other one is red!
I just picked up some Securon 4pt harnesses from Burton for 32.95 each, They will be OK for SVA then I plan to replace the driver one with an aircraft release harness after.
TRS are based in Basingstoke I think. http://www.totalrestraint.com/
I got my Sabelts from MAC1, £80 the pair. Not sure if they are still doing that deal but always worth a phone call to them. They might do a deal!

And Ultima use FIA approved 6 pointers and get through SVA every time.
My thoughts re harnesses and SVA.........
There is a lot of mis information spoken on here about SVA legality and harnesses. The only hard and fast rules are:
From section 5 of the SVA Manual:
iii) The locking mechanism, ie the buckle, both under load and not under load, can be released with a single movement in one direction with either
hand.
It goes on to say it must be adjustable with one hand and must sit laterally across the pelvic area. On these 2 points, there is no diference between
an aircraft or clip harness.
The only ones to watch would be the aircraft buckles which require a button to be pressed to rotate the lock. This wouldnt be as easy with one hand
and therefore could be dodgy.
Im using 3" aircraft belts from the start.

Really good service, knowledgable people and i think a good products (but i've never had to use it / fit it yet!)
As soon as they delivered my harness i realised they'd made a mistake with my crotch straps. Called them and they said send them back &
they'll return them on the next post + include some harness pads to cover postage. I forgot, 4 months later they agreed to sort them out at
stoneleigh, no mention of invoices or anything.
good service
