Should i use 2x 80mm or 100mm intruments on my dash behind the steering wheel, on my vortx????


And can anyone tell me about the exempt area for samller guages or will this not matter with good quality guages?

I got 86mm ones from Greenguages.

80mm IMO. You'll have trouble fitting them behind your small steering wheel (and be fully visible for your SVA) as it is!

thought so, should i bother putting any behind the steering wheel, just the tacho was going to go there if thats SVA friendly!

As long as you can see the speedo the rest just has to meet the radius rule. Placement is up to you on the other gauges. But what you've got there looks good.

So can i just paint some fake ones on with black marker and they will pass SVA!

only kidding!

what is required for SVA cause i could leave the other ones off, until after ???

was going to have tacho behind steering wheel and speedo on dash!

The minimum is a speedo capable of reading at least up to your stated top speed, and a non-resettable odometer. Anything else is surplus to requirements. But looks nice.

A rev counter somes in handy for the noise test too. Since it has to be at 75% of the max power rpm. Or 66% of maximum if peak power is unknown. I think.

Hi Kris,

The radius rule means that only stuff outside of 127mm of the outside of the steering wheel rim and down to the lower edge of the dash is subject to the test.

On a RH drive car, this is only applicable to the left hand edge of the wheel, you can have what you like to the right.
