marc n - 23/6/06 at 01:29 PM

my orange car on the road

after two years of starting mnr and building god knows how many turnkey cars and helping numerous customers through their sva i finally have my own road legal car

just need to wait for the dvla for the reg no and im on the road

cant wait to see my new neighbours faces when i go to work in it at 6-30 am each morning

so one down and two more to go then all my own cars are road legal

what a fantastic car, i was at Newark and placed an order for a Mac1 9R, so my hell is about to begin.
If my car turns out half as good as yours i'll be well happy.

cheers everyone

i just need to find time to drive it now !!! , bit like my racecars that have sat here all year so far
but the customer always comes first

it was very lucky that i had to take an export order to hull for shipping so was able to combine a quick trip to beverly

never had a problem taken plenty of cars there now to know what they like and dont like
they are all top blokes and very fair, i think the whole sva process is a great idea from a safety side although there are one or two funny parts, i would rather they went through the car as closely as they do ( because even i forget to do things after building all the turnkey cars we do ) so i always look at it as being a fresh set of eyes to spot things

they where also very helpfull when i first started and took my first car giving me lots of help and advice for future visits

hopefully will get some good weather for the next few weeks, may even get to drive the car to harewood hillclimb next weekend where we have a stand

Well done that man, It must have been very frustrating to have built all them other cars for other people, and not have finished your own, I know how that feels !! well, the wiring anyway
Lets hope you get time to drive it now as well

Do you reckon it'd be a fair blat?

R1 vs RV8?

Well done Marc!

Nearly bought all the bits for my car now. So shouldn't be too long now!

dont know about the fairness of it all but even if it were my numpty driving verses marc's I dont stand a chance, I have seen his logging data fron the Clio's it was impresive stuff .

Point to point he'd win anyway as I would have to stop for fuel every 100 miles.

the 3.14 lsd thats been fitted this weekend should help - theoretical top speed 160 mph in 5th at 5000 rpm Scarry.

While i am on about diffs if you are unning lobro joints make sure you loctite the bolts through the lobro's I didnt and have just found that most were no moer than hand tight

regards

Hey Iain,

Good point about the Lobros! Lucky I'm push in...

You sourced a 3.14 then!? Pricey?

Just fitting my prop today... Might even be able to drive forward soon!

Chris.

P.S. I can certainly vouch for Marc's driving! Will be good once he's in the RGB. Would definitely give me the enthusiasm to go to the meets to see how a well driven VortX will perform comparably.

Winston Todge - 25/6/06 at 10:11 AM

Just as an update...

Split rear UJ and popped the shaft in from the front with the engine out and then reassembled in the tunnel. Took about an hour.

Slowly getting there! Can't wait to start thinking about SVA too...

Chris.

Agriv8 - 25/6/06 at 05:09 PM

Yup

3.15 LSD fitted ( at considerable cost !!!) built by clasic conversions not so long ago

Initial results are promissing.

sounds like a perfect excuse to go get it!

All arrived ok by the way, nicely packaged. Thank Chris for sorting it. Did the cheque arrive?
