Fibreglass seat mounting

Hi all.

How have you fixed the fibreglass seat to the chassis / rails?
Which kind of bolt have you used? (I don't even feel confortable with the idea of having a bolt (or 4) up my bump let alone the bolt itself... )
How have you reinforced / load spread it?

Pics?

Thanks,
Joao

Bighead fasteners do a range of sizes which you can bond into the seat base. Clever stuff

Kart seat retainers are a sort of flat headed button bolt with a flat cup around it to spread the load, even with a bony bum like mine you don't feel them underneath you at all.

not sure what type of seats you have Joao, but if they are anything like mine ( completely rounded base, no flat areas) they are very awkward to mount!

i have 2 sparco side mounts like this

which seem to work rather well, but they are a bit on the heavy side, so im considering other methods.

im considering just bolting through the base as im going to make some form of cushion anyway so sitting on them shouldnt be a problem.
the only problem will be that the base is not flat so the bolt heads will not lie flat properly.
Marc suggested bending the bolt heads at an angle.

of course, if you have the later seats with a flat base you should be fine

hi joao

your seats are newer style and have the threads built in as per the picture as razman has posted on here

Hi Marc...

Nope... I think I got the last batch of old seats
I saw the new ones at your place when I got mine...

Fancy an exhange?
