Donor/other pedal box?
Colnago_Man - 10/11/06 at 09:12 AM

Has anyone used a different pedal box in their Vortex apart from the standard £245 offering from MNR.
Not saying there is anything wrong with this, just trying to trim a few pounds from the budget. Would the standard pedals from the sierra still fit?

Unless I'm mistaken, the £245 inckudes a balance bar set-up and the master cylinders.

Even if the Sierra kit did fit (I can't for a second imagine it does,) the bias set-up is vastly superior and in my experience (had non-bias set-up on my MK Indy) very necessary to get the set-up right when braking on the limit.

Nope,
The sierra has a top mounted box, the MNR one is bottom mounted.
You also get 2 master cylinders, the pedals and the brake bias bar.
I'd look at other areas to trim from the budget as the pedals play a major part in how the car drives

Okay fair enough..does make we think why its not included in the kit price then.

OT a little but what about the loom? Hopefully my engine comes (R1) with its own loom, should I not be able to use the sierra loom and the engine loom together to make a complete system?

I suppose it gives you the option of making your own.

As for the loom, it would be easy to use the bike loom and extend it, I wouldn't use the sierra one.
You'll need to add in wiring for fog light and the dash warning lights that are missing from the bike loom.
Source your engine from Malc at Yorkshire ENgines, you're guaranteed of a quality engine kit

Cheers, Thanks.

Yes Malc is top of the list for the engine, I almost have to drive past his door on the way to MNR anyway.(Plus he reputation on here is pretty sound to say the least).

Dont suppose anyone knows if he his is connected to Yorkshire-Motorcycles in Keighley? They seem to have some engines for sale via ebay.

No connection I'm aware of.

I could be wrong on this but I think the Idea of the 'Kit price' is to get you to the onto 4 wheels stage allowing builders then 2 buy parts they requires as and when. Chris will usually go through the options of 'Extras' and produce a guide.

I'm currently in the process of producing a new pedal box (floor mounted) for the Furore, it will certainly be a lot less than £245, but in fairness it's made to take my donor cylinders which are MR2 (& therefore come free with the donor), however we are also looking at what will be necessary to fit it to "seven clones" & I shall be making a balance bar version in due course for those that want the greater adjustment this brings. I would expect that even with cylinders you' still get a bit of change out of £245.

Grant (ex luego) is flogging pedal boxes on e-bay but think they are still about 200 notes!!!
