Hi Marc, what happened!!! Went to Lydden today and heard you had an accident.

Is it bad?

Steve

Winston Todge - 22/4/07 at 06:17 PM

I hope all is okay?

Chris.

marc n - 23/4/07 at 04:20 AM

hi everyone
yep unfortunately made a mistake and ran too wide onto the dirt on the start finish line and clouted the barriers hard very hard
the good news is the chassis has now been race destruction tested

had a different engine and airbox in and that was a definate step forward, spent most of qualifying just building up the revs on the newly rebuilt engine and getting used to the circuit again only been once before in 1998, great little cicuit for spectators though , i decided to try a few diiferent settings for the race based on quailifying but unfortunately went a bit too radical and made the rear too loose for the corner leading onto the start finish line where i went through a bit too hot, the back end got sucked onto the tyres on the exit which then pulled the front end in.
it was a big hit
the pleasing thing is how well the chassis held up ( doesnt appear to be bent at all )and the fact i only have a few bruises
from initial inspections
damage is mainly
wishbones
bodywork
two suspension brackets
and two dampers ( ripped in half )
the biggest problem is that with current workloads and my fast approaching wedding im not sure when we will find time to fix the car
going to have a proper look at the car tonight to fully acess the damage

best regards

marc

Gutted... glad you're ok though!

Are you sure that the future Mrs N will let you out again? I hope that she didn't see the impact!?

shes cool with it although was slightly worried when she saw the car, but i did get to watch the touring cars and all support races on sky yesterday as i was injured

Fozzie - 23/4/07 at 08:51 AM

Ouch!!......... so very glad, apart from bumps and bruises, you are OK Marc!

Lydden is a 'small' circuit, but, even for the experienced, it can catch you out, and is just a tad unforgiving.

I hope the bumps and bruises are mended by the time of your wedding...

Excellent news that the chassis stood up to the 'test' though!

Glad you are ok...

Tks

TimC - 23/4/07 at 02:51 PM

If MNR need a greater RGB presence now, there's still time for me to build mine to comply, for me to do my ARDS test and for us to arrange some sort of factory support package.........

Or maybe not!

ouch, sounds a bit nasty!
glad to hear you're fine though

road warrior - 23/4/07 at 10:59 PM

Glad to hear your ok Marc.

We had the track debut of the Vortx at a supersprint at Eastern Creek on the weekend. We finished 3rd outright from 103 entries and were only pipped by a Formula 2 car and a supercharged seven.

The driver hadn't even seen the car until the morning of the event and had never driven this style of car let alone a BEC. So we are pretty happy.

He loved the car and wants another go as soon as possible.

marc n - 30/4/07 at 01:06 PM

well damage is actually minimal now we have stripped the car and inspected

two arches
centre section of bodywork
nosecone
left front lower wishbone
left rear lower wishbone
front pushrod
steering rack housing
sierra steering arm on rack
but unfortunately we just dont have time at the moment to fix it

best regards
