Which harness's
Lee MacPherson - 27/5/08 at 01:52 PM

I have been looking at which harnesses to fit to my MNR vortx, DO I need the shortened harnesses that are for the westfield/caterham or do the standard length harness fit.

I got the westfield ones and they were spot on length wise, the normal type are rather long and end up with quite a bit of webbing flapplng about. Now going to use them in the Falcon as their the right size for that too

Yes, you need shortened harness as per Westfield/Caterham.

I have TRS jobbies on mine, they do a short catering van type thats delightful in an MNR.

Or phone Chris and get them direct from MNR.

I am intending to fit my seats with sliders, will the caterham/westfield harenss's allow for mavement of the seat position.

I am pretty sure I have the longer style ones sitting in mine. Lukes.

Are these OK to be cut down using an appropriate method so they dont frey afterwards?

Yes the short ones will be fine for seven type cars with seats on sliders.
Long ones will be stupidly too long and should not be used in there!

You could seal the ends with a hot knife but not sure if that is an approved method for either the MOT or race use. Perhaps a tarpaulin manufacturer could sew it for you. I have used one to modify hoods, very cheap.

Dax tend to use normal car type Willans harnesses. Only problem is you then end up with a lot of webbing just behind you pulled thru the gripper.
2 Mates have them and you end up with 2 flaps getting in your eyes not just the one!
(Go for TRS tho as they have velcro to stop this too!)

I used Sabelt harnesses on mine. they are short ones intended for use on kitcars, and the like

ive got the willans ''westfield'' harnesses and they dont have any excess and are perfect for adjustable seating, and best thing about them is you pull forward on them to tighten them up(take up the slack), where as most others you pull backwards and there isnt much room too do that in a severn.

and for a extra £10 they are much better quality and come in black!!
