Exhaust SVA Question
coozer - 9/6/08 at 10:07 AM

Will my current exhaust setup be OK at Beverly SVA? (15th July)

Standard MNR can and manifold.

Will my rear hanger be OK or should I cover it with summit?

Sorry to ask this again, just wondering what other MNR's have got away with?

Thanks,
Steve

both ends of your can and the rear bracket look to have unacceptable radii. how about making a long heatshield to cover it all?

With regard to the rear hanger - they are classed as "below the underside of the car" line and as such can be a bit sticky-outy! and will still be a pass

Should be fine mate...

...though I would turn the U clamp so the bolt ends and nuts face underneath

Safe is better than sorry - I'll be making a big heat shield (like the Caterham items) and putting plenty of edge trim on there.

It doesn't take much effort, can be taken off later and is far better than failing SVA for something daft and simple!

mine needed a shield over the edges as they are not radiused enougfh and sharp

the mount on mine is the same and was not an issue first time round as the nuts are unreachable with the testers metal knee ball due to the exit bend of the pipe.

I am building a cobra and have long since decided to treat the SVA as a two part test. Do what you can but be prepared to fail and then sort out what you must with some advice from the inspector on each point.
I may be wrong!
