Hi all,
Just about to order a Vortx and thought I'd say hello!
Looking at the following spec:
RT Inboard
'04 R1 engine
Quaife reverse (in jersey our 'sva' requires reverse)
Paddle shift
Digi dash
4 core rad
Toyo t1r's
Pro-race 1 in black
All black plastics
Thinking Rossi blue with two black stripes.
Not convinced on the new nose so may spec the older one....
It'll be a road car primarily with the odd hill climb / track day thrown in.
Any suggestions / advice (especially on spec at this stage) would be great.....
Cheers,
Matt
sounds like a good spec to me
welcome to MNR word
Welcome, excellent choice
Another welcome, make sure you look at the various build blogs doing the rounds (mine included!) and ask whenever you need to know anything. I'll
bet you get more dry days a year to use it than we do!
Cheers
Vince
thanks for the welcome guys....
really looking forward to the build!
had a look round four manufacturers last week and was impressed by mnr the most.
went out in a gixxer thou powered car with a supercharger which was great - budget won't stretch to a supercharger sadly but was considering
going for a 'busa / zx12 engine instead of the r1 to get a touch more power....
what do you guys think?
I have an R1, but if I was doing it again I'd go for the ZX!2R based on bang for buck!
cheers tim,
will chat to mark tomorrow and decide!
Hi Matt.
You just can't go wrong with MNR
Check your engine choice... I may be wrong - most probably, as usual - but IIRC 04 was not the best R1... ask Yorkshir-Engines (Malc) as he is a very
knowledge mate!!! Probably 05 -> 07 was quite better... disclaimer: I MAY BE WRONG...
Joao
PS Low boost turbo / stock engine can put 200 - 250 rwhp in that engine budget allowing
Welcome, and good choice! Busas carry a bit of a premium over the R1 but if you can strech to it, go for it!
Great choice! Almost like ours (RT Inboard, 2005 R1, Quaife reverse, 13" CXRs, R888's, orange with black arches and full cage).
Talk to Malc with regards to engines. Haven't driven ours yet, but R1 will still be quick enough I reckon...
Keep us posted!
Gergely
hi again all!
thanks for the advice & encouragement.
well,
I ordered it about an hour ago!
spoke to Malc at yorkshire engines and was persuaded to go for the 07 r1. gone for the new nose despite my misgivings about the styling....! also
race-leda front end, team dynamics pro-race 1.2's in anthracite & the ubiqitous 888's.
cheers,
matt
Hi Matt,
Good choice of car you will not be disappointed.
04 - 06 R1 engines are the same. I have 05 R1 and find it plenty quick enough with a 3.38:1 sierra diff. Some people say this engine has no grunt and
has to be revved to get it to do anything, this is wrong it will pull in top gear from very low down the rev range, I am well happy with this engine.
I originally was going to have a carb'd R1 engine but glad I changed my mind now.
You may want to talk to MNR about running gear. Sierra diffs of the correct ratio are becoming hard to find and expensive and could possibly need to
be rebuilt if they have done a lot of miles in the donor. It may be wise to go for Freelander diff as these can be sourced new for good money and I
believe they are available in a slightly better ratio.
Cheers
Stu.
Just read your post above, good choice of spec. Pro race 1.2's in Anthracite are
