Hello...about time i joined
richardm6994 - 27/12/12 at 09:02 AM

Ive used this forum for some time now so I thought it was about time i came on here and said hello!

My name is richard and im from derby. I built my robin hood exmo over ten years ago when i was still in my teens (just) and have been "finishing it off" ever since.

It started life with a 2.1 pinto engine, but this winter im in the process of dropping a 3.9 rover v8 inside! Im doing a build diary on the rhocar site for those who are interested;
http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=35307&hl=%2Brv8+%2Bexmo

Im lucky enough to have a dad with a fully kitted out machine shop....lathes, milling machines, surface gringers...you name it, hes got it & being the son of an old-skool engineer, my dad made sure i could use all these machines by the age of 8, although he left welding untili was 10!
Between us, we build large scale model steam engines as well as looking after 2 full size traction engines.

Anyway, thats about all there is. I look forward to posting on here in the future and hearing from you all. I hope you've had a nice xmas and wish you all a happy new year.

Welcome to the madhouse - although I am sure your avatar will be significantly reduced in size that is one great traction engine - is it one of the ones you built? If so please post some pictures of them.

richardm6994 - 27/12/12 at 09:59 AM

Built in 1912 so no. But restored...yes.

Ill post some photos of the scratch built stuff sometime.....things like 1/3 size traction engines to 5" gauge railway locos.

Still sorting photo sizes.....

Welcome...you will find lots of advice on here, although with your experience it doesn't sound like you will need it!

I'm in Eastwood, just up the road from IKEA, and an quiet a way on with a Viento build. With Andy in the area as well, perhaps we could get together and compare notes one day (good excuse not to be in the garage in wet weather!)?

Hi steve. That sounds like a good idea. My best friend is currently in the middle of upgrading his garage business in Langley mill to do MOTs so we could meet up there for coffee one day? He's also a kit car guy having owned a robin hood 2b and he's currently got a locost.

SteveWallace - 29/12/12 at 05:05 PM

Sounds good. Just send me a U2U with some options on when.

Steve

Sounds good to me also, would love to catch up with a few local guys and have a god chat car related, I'm in the process of getting my kit back on the road after a couple of years Sorn.

Let me know dates and times and I will pop round.

Andy
