Audi 1.8t
Steve - 1/2/17 at 10:14 PM

Hi I'm thinking of changing my bike engine to car and was looking at the 1.8t from a TT.
Would it fit in my locost?
Has anyone fit one?
What gearbox will fit?
Cheers 👍🏻

Would you be looking to sell your bike engine if you swap your engine.

Yes I will be selling

Would you be selling the full package, if so how much would you be looking for it. When would you be looking to sell it.
Cheers Duncan

you can get a bellhousing for a ford type 9 box or you can get adaptors to use Toyota supra boxes

this build may be of interest:

or this one:

(I believe that the 1.9D and 1.8T are very similar fitment)

I forget his username, but I'm sure there's a builder on here fitting a VAG 1.8T motor into an RX8. May be worth searching him out to see what he's done for a gearbox.

This is the one...

A quick scan of some VAG forums suggests there may be a Dutch maker of bell-housings to fit Ford Type 9 and MT75 RWD boxes to the VAG engine. Can't imagine they'd be cheap to buy though!

£250 from RWD Motorsport for a bell housing:

Linky

About the same price as Duratec units etc. But then you need to figure out clutch and flywheel combo's (could be simple, could be not)

I'm currently in the process of building one, made my own bellhousing and I'm using a flywheel from an Audi 80 I think with sierra friction plate. Not started it up etc yet to know if all works but will keep you updated!
