First drive! WOW!! (Hungarian MNR)
After 27 build days (started in July, but only worked on the car on Saturdays...) the car has been lowered to the ground on Saturday. Then things
started picking up speed... we quickly finished most of the jobs that needed done for a test drive and Sunday morning we were ready...
We took the car out to a private and closed road... The car started first time and after a few stalls (got to learn the bike clutch...) we were
away...
WOW!!!
Even without any sort of wheel / spring / damper setup the car runs fine, doesn't pull in either direction and is stable. The engine runs on a
Power Commander map downloaded from their website (the map most similar to our setup) and seems to run fine for now. The car seems quick enough and
the experience is just great!!!
A massive thans goes out to Marc, Chris, Malc from Yorkshire engines, Chockymonster, and all of you who have been helping us along the build!
This has been one of the best experiences in my life! A great family program as well, having worked on the car with my dad and my brother.
The few things remaining are:
Checking up on brakes - these seem to be quite weak compared to what I was hoping for... maybe it's the bedding in (obviously will need to put
some heat in them), but not dramatic stopping power at this stage... Then we need: front wings, mirrors, indicator electronics installation, tacho
wiring, speedo adjustment (reads low), corner weighting, wheel alignment setup, Power Commander setup and that's it.
There will be a track day in April on the Hungaroring that we want to go to, so we will be back in the garage I guess!
I will post some pictures soon, as soon as they are downloaded from my camera.

They may need bleeding to ensure there is no air in the brake pipes. It could also be that you are not used to non-servo brakes (they need a bigger
shove on the brake pedal) but so long as you can lock the brakes when you shove the pedal hard enough they should be fine.

Congratulations. Although the build may be finished, this is just the beginning of the next chapter which is entitled "modifications" and
lasts much much longer than the build ever did

I know the feeling I did exactly the same this weekend and oh my god its quick. Supprisingly had the same experience with the brakes as you I got my
fronts to lock fine just having a few issues with the rear. Hoping a rebleed will sort everything out

To be fair, I have not even tried to lock the brakes, but wanted to brake 3-4 times from a reasonable 50-60 mph down to 5-10 without locking them to
ensure they are bedded in.
We will probably do a re-bleed and i will surely try to lock them next time to see what happens...
I can't wait to get in the car again...

Great stuff with the first drive
I don't know what calipers you have but if it's the wilwoods i found changing from the smart pads to mintex made a big difference to the
"feel"
