Dashboard and SVA

What should i do with my dash for SVA- I was failed for it being too sharp, even though it curves under at bottom and id trimmed the edge with rubber - the curve should be 19mm!!? so he failed me.

It came like this with the kit- i havent modified it and i cant remove it because its part of scuttle.

The only way i can see to get it through SVA is pipe lagging and vinal glued over top - as he said pipe lagging is not permanant. But this will wreck a expensive carbon fibre dash?!?

Any ideas??

Try using double sided tape instead, which will be easier to remove with a bit of help from some warm water/nail varnish remover (check it won't affect the c/f top coat first though!)

I can't help, but I failed on the exact same thing!
I have a carbon dash skin bonded to the scuttle, bought it as Tiger suggested using it as of was sva proof!

Was gonna ask tiger at stoneleigh for suggestions

He said sticky tape etc is not good enough. Anyone reccomend a double sided that is very very sticky- sticks to resin without damaging it and also sticks to vinal???

Try using 15mm pipe insulation covered in leatherette. Mine passed with it no problem.

why dont you just make a padded mdf or aluminium dash according to sva regs, and then place the carbon fiber dash afterwards?

you cant on a MNR mate, the Dash is all one unit its the dash/scuttle/wing mirror housing/steering colum cover/bonnet rest etc its basically a box section of fibre glass with a carbon front.

Marc's the guru on this stuff. Have you tried calling, emailing, U2Uing Marc? He's probably been busy with SVA and Stoneleigh but you should be able to get hold of him by one means or another.

No ive just emailed chris as ive been asking about my low ride height and it appears ive the wrong shockers- not a big deal really im sure ill get them sorted.

So i asked also about the Dash and that it doesnt comply with SVA regs.

He said just to trim the edge and it will pass, i emailed back and said ''but ive done that with thick soft Utrim and it didnt- as its not the edge i said its the radius at the base of dash''.

All i was told is that 3 passed at beverly this week with same dash, But ive heard beverly aint that strict and overlook some things. Doesnt really help me does it, SVA manual says 19mm radius and Dash isnt 19mm??

Anyone got marcs email, i did have it. ill see if he can reccomend something with out damaging the dash as i dont fancy gluing something too a few hundered quid dash.
