pushrod length

Hi all.

Following an old thread (here) about front stifness, I got myself thinking if I got my car right.

IIRC there were different pushrod lengths if you use the front lower wishbone up or down.

Mine are 15 inch.

Can you please measure yours? (IF your ride is fine )
Which side is your lower wishbone?

If you can, please respond urgently as I'll have a suspension setup right in the morning.

Cheers,
Joćo

Hi Joao,

most important thing to check is that the
circlip for the upright is on the bottom of
the wishbone.. This will make sure that
it is not the circlip taking the force on a
bump!

Hopefully, this will mean that the pushrod
mount tube is on the top of the wishbone,
putting the weld under compression
instead of trying to pull it apart.

The pushrods do vary in length, but you
should be able to adjust to compensate.
Mine are 355mm and seem fine.
As said, the lower bone shoud be parallel
to the ground.

good luck

Thanks everyone.

It seems my pushrods are longer 1" than yours, George.
Well... let's see how the suspension setup goes...

Cheers,
Joao

Ditto, mount tubes should be on top and circlip underneath or full suspension load will be on the circlip which needless to say is bad news!

So having 384 mm ones and mount bracket on top is a no no? Or just makes it stiffer?

Joao

rocker angle will be wrong, so springs & dampers
won't feel right. I'd replace them.

don't just check the pushrod mount though,
the circlip under is much more important. Some
were made with the circlip & tube under. With
these you will need the longer pushrods.

i know mnr made some shorter pushrods for people that turned over the wishbones, i'm sure you can send them back for shorter ones send chris an email.

the newer design wishbones have the bracket under and also the circlip under.
