R1 cooling system
Does anyone have a sketch or photos of the cooling system for an R1. From the build manual I can not see what happens at the bottom apart from the
right angled bend to the bottom radiator inlet.
What do you do about the breathers from the water pump and thermostat?
How do you connect in expansion tank/radiator cap?
Any help appreciated. Thanks Greg

Why not use a R1 radiator? - it has all the right connections ready for you and comes with expansion tank and rad fan in one light package. Works a
treat just like Mr Yamaha intended.

I have the breather from the thermostat going to the top of a header tank and the breather from the pump going to the bottom of the header tank.
the outlet from the stat is teed to the outlet from the oil cooler and go to the top of my rad. The bottom of the rad goes to the water pump.

I have connected mine up the same as on the bike just fitted longer hoses.
If it works on the bike it will work in the car.

Here's how mine is plumbed in with a Polo rad, all works fine (in fact too well if anything, runs slightly too cool!)

Thanks everyone I think I have a reasonable idea now. I have already bought a polo radiator so will go down that route rather than the R1 radiator.
