MNR gets a first place

We ran our MNR in the state superspint championship on Sunday and finished first outright by 2.3 seconds. We finished 3rd outright at the last meeting so that makes two egg cups in two outings.

Thanks to Marc and Chris for providing such a great car.

Good news,

Have you started build on No 2 yet ?

Marc mentioned that you have had the cage tested down there what were the results ?

Ps slowly removing the gremlins from Marc's MNR ( ideally a full day of open testing would assist - but work commitments ... ect ect ) .

Well done and send us some photo's

Regards

Agriv8

Hi Guys

Tim, the car is mid '06 RT+ with '06 R1 engine and muffett diff. The new car, which is almost there, is the '07 model (new nose), like yours, so it will be faster again.

Iain, both types of roll cages have been FIA tested by a FIA certified test house and Marc has a copy of the results. Both cages walked it in with the main hoop not even getting anywhere near deformation.

The event was a supersprint which is four timed laps for each go. It was at Wakefield Park which is a tight track a bit like Brands short circuit. It was pretty cold and we have actually gone quicker there and have already gone under the lap record for seven style cars in testing. It shows just how good the MNR chassis is.

The previous event was Eastern Creek which is pretty fast and we were pipped by a Formula 2 car and a seven with a turbo 4AGE. We were also being cautious with the new engine and didn't go over 9500rpm.

I have some pics on order but they said it would be a week or so until they get them out to me so I will post them as soon as I can. I will also put the camera on next time you guys would probably like to see some of our tracks for a change.

Marc, I would be keen to hear about your cooling cures. The car is fine at the moment but when it starts to get 40+ towards the end of the year it might be an issue.

Also I would like to say a big thanks to Martin van der Wal for help with the oil issues with the later R1 engine.

Cheers
Sonja

hi sonja
i have an extremely large oil cooler fitted now that has reduced temps by 15 degrees, also some extra vents in the bonnet to release some of the hot air have seen us reduce our running temps from 95 - 100 degrees to 65 -70 degrees at brands hatch this weekend have also been playing around with rad angles and have found a 5 degree inclination to be about right, also putting some rearward facing holes in the undertay made a 5 degree difference, interestingly removing the bars in the nosecone grill made no difference at all
will take some pics of the ducts etc when i have removed the car form the truck

best regards

marc

Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

I will get some photo's of the cooling system fitted to Marcs MNR and send them over.

Glad the cages have passed there tests with fliying colours. IT always good to see that the computer calculations / analasis are backed up by a third party testing body.

Photo from the supersprint. The race meeting last weekend was cancelled due to torrential rain and the subsequent flooding of the track.

Cheers

Hi Marc.

As I'm having some heating problems, I'd love to see all the cooling system you're using, especially the bonnet vents

Cheers,
Joao
