Help! Steering Hight Mesurement

Help! I'm designing a dry sump tank to go under the steering column, forward of the master cylinders on my VortX But I'm missing one crucial measurement as my steering column isn't fitted yet.

Could someone do me a huge favour and measure the distance between the bottom of the lower chassis rail (floor level) and the underside of the steering column 300mm forward of the bulkhead on their car (i.e. 300mm forward of the 2nd steering column mount)?

Many thanks, Clive.

I'd happily do this but I think you are probably safer asking someone with a chassis of similar age!

Hi Tim, I dont think the body dimensions have changed and that sets the lower and upper chassis rail hights so I'm pretty sure the measurements on your chassis will be very similar.

I've tried mocking it up and get 290mm.

Could you also let me know how far forward of the bulkhead the UJ goes?

I think the height varies with steering height adjustment so measurements from all gratefully acceted!

Clive.

I guarantee that your upper chassis rail is considerably taller than mine.

Sorry!

Hi Tim,

No problem, thanks anyway. I'll trial fit the steering column and link to get the measurement.

Yours, Clive.

hi clive definately better for you to mock up on your car with seats in position etc, as your quite a bit taller than most so it will have a bearing on the uj height

cheers
