HELP Please, short cat or bike exhaust needed ASAP
I have a problem with the loan Cat it is far too long and my silencer is too far back.
I really need either a short cat or a standard bike silencer that is a lot shorter than the MNR one.
If anyone can help please call me on 01473 745880. My SVA is Friday and I need this sorted

can you not move your collector further back?? in the picture it looks like you have 8inchs to play with

Would ideally like to do that but the collector will only go on 1 inch. I had this problem when I first fitted it. As soon as I put pipes 3 and 4 in
and loosely attach them to the engine the collector will no longer move. Also I can not get it any closer to the car as you can see it points outward.
I have tried to rotate all the pipes but this is as close as it will go.
The silencer needs to go at least 4 inches forward to clear the rear mudguard. there is not 4 inches of movement in the collector.

i had the same problem so cut the manifold down a bit.
didnt need the cat for my sva as it sailed through
its still really close to the rear wheel arch but the exit pipe i bent downwards at 45 degree angle

2.25" internal diameter both inlet and outlet and about 12" overall

what dash are you using?
is it the Koso? if so then i have your solution

I am using R1 clocks, how does this effect the exhaust?

the koso one i have let me change the revs so it thought it read 2000 when it was actually 1000. (didnt know this at the time)
flew through
changed it for the mot and it still went through easily
r1 carb engine fyi
you could easily disregard the cat then.
you could look on ebay for a smaller bike can - saw one at £20 the other week
or borrow one from a biker and amend the mount just for the test if unsure.

Hi Stuart
I've got an adapted R1 standard can with curved tail pipe and rolled end.
I don't know how quiet it is, but standard can should be ok.
Time is against you - but if you can get a courier to pick up tomorrow you're welcome to borrow it.

hi stuart
shorten the manifold pipes, give me a ring tomorrow and i can tell you the length it needs to be measured against a car i have at work,
or i have a shorter can on my grey car you can borrow, or drill out rivetts in your can and shorten down the one you have as my shorter can just
passed noise at sva at 96 db

Thanks for the suggestions/offers everyone. As time is running out I think I need to modify what I have here. I think I'll have to have the
headers off and shorten them.
