Ally rear calipers
Anyone used these on a car yet?

Got some stickiness isues with my rear calipers, so was thinking of changing for something lighter
Opinions are like backsides..
Everyone has one, nobody wants to hear it and only other peoples stink!

I have them
But they have not been fitted yet I believe there is an issue with getting them under 13" rims.
and I have 13" rims !!!!
as for the quality they look great

I saw them on the shelf at RAW recently but I don't belive they were happy with the mounting brackets.

Rally Design say they won't fit uner 13" wheels. They are Volkswagen calipers if you're looking for second hand.

I was suprised by how heavy they are! I've not looked really closely but I belive I have them on my Seat Ibiza FR.

It also looks like hi spec have finally released there alloy callipers with hand brake
someone can do the link thing
I just saw them in kitcar mag in wh smiths
i didn't buy it as I only reviewed 2 cars in the whole mag I won't pay nearly £4 for a book of ads

Been told they are no good as they stress the disk when the handbrake is on...
Thats why I am asking about these with a slider setup

Yeah - VW!!!
Allegedly save 0.5kg a side over Sierra calipers. If scrappy hunting, rumour has it that Mk4 Golf are apparently the best ones to lift em off (better
design internally, less prone to sticking).
Interesting comment about the Hi-spec calipers - I was thinking the same myself. They seem to only operate on the one pad as far as I could see. Not
that it is a great idea to apply the handbrake with hot discs anyway, but the application of pressure on just one side only cant really do the disc
any good, especially if it is a thin solid one, as opposed to a vented disc...?

yep saw the highspec ones at one of the shows, i dont think they are much lighter either and of course the handbrake flaw has already been mentioned,
i would go with the golf ones as they are about the same price as some recon ford ones, although i was told they would not fit under 13 inch wheels

If you want a light weight caliper, with handbrake mechanism, that will fit under 13" wheels, try the Peugeot / Citroen units - easily found and
an easy fit!
