Using this as rear callipers on the VortX

Hi.

Anypne used this?

http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=10563

OR

http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=45&products_id=11370

To use any of these, all I need is to recreate MNR drum to disk adaptor with holes in the correct location, right? (and maybe handbrake cable exchange...)

What is your opinion?

Joao

Most probably the Wilwood has too much breaking power for the rear.

if you are going for these get them sent to our workshop so you can save some money on carrige and then you can collect everythingt at once, this applies to any other bits also, last customer we did this for we aved him #250 in carrige to poland

best regards

marc

Which discs are you planning on using with the VW calipers Joao?

MNR

An excellent example of customer appreciation and added value, the praise you currently receive would seem to be well deserved.

I'm thinking about solid Sierra's, nothing definite yet...

I'll probably use 14" (clearence) or 15" (sexiest )

So am I right in thinking all that is required to convert to the Golf calipers from RalDes is calipers/brackets and discs?

The site is down at the moment but does anyone know down to what size discs you can run with them? Id rather avoid the 253mm discs from Sierras as Im only running 240s on the front. Anyone know what other discs have the same stud pattern and PCD?

Rgds

Richie

Hi Richie.
Called MArc and he told me that this VW caliper would be a direct fit with his drum to disc adaptor.
I dont't think that there is any weight save in this vs Sierra calipers.
On the other side, the wilwoods would save an extra kilo, but Marc doesn't know if his adaptor can be used.

Hi Joao,

I remember reading on the Raldes website that these are lighter than the Sierra caliper.

So there is nothing else required to convert drums to these discs? just the adaptor (and a golf handbrake cable). Does the Sierra not use different backplates or anything?

Rich

Yeap, but then I checked their weight against Rob's site (www.robcollingridge.com) and IIRC were similar

Marc didn't refer to anything else, but that might have escaped. I'll have to check

Raldes site now back up:

Total weight 2.2Kg (approx) – 1.0Kg lighter than Sierra rear caliper

"The reconditioned callipers weigh 2060g each and the caliper carriers weigh 615g"
