MNR body tub fitting help + more :)
1. - Can anybody give me any hints on body tub fitting, particularly at the rear. I need to cut the inner edge of the tub where it meets the outer
side of the roll bar. I trial fitted it, but the width of the roll bar stops it going all the way forward into position. Is there a measurement for
this cut out ? Or any tips ?
2. - Plumbing. I have looked at a few build pics and want to know what hoses I need etc for the R1 engine. I have a Polo rad which I still need to
mount. Also it looks like the R1 thermostat housing needs to be mounted elsewhere, again, any tips would be helpful.
My build is going quite slowly as I am in the middle of house moving and building project. !!! It's getting there .!!
More questions WILL follow !!
Thanks in advance
She's lurking in there somewhere..!!!

I used lots of cardboard templates to give me the rough ideas/sizes , then cut less than i actually think and finish it off with a file.
hope that helps

Cardboard template is much better than the visualisation/get it wrong method.
There's a plumbing bit on my website that works wonders in my car, it includes the extra hoses I used to move the 'stat from it's
hard mount position.
I cut the hard mount pipe in 2 so that you there was enough meat left on both ends to secure a piece of hose onto, I used 19mm samco superflex and it
seems to have worked. From memory the pictures you want are around about July in the build section.

About the stat, In order to keep it simple I just left mine in place and cut a round bif off the bonnet / fibreglass and filled it with a ... how do
you call the thing to get the tea through? The thing with a metal mesh...
Welll take a look here
Painted black, and glued by the inside looks perfect

Are you sure that the 'stat won't fit with the new bodywork? I've had a look and I reckon it might just go../.

The 5PW didn't, it actually stuck out over the chassis rail. It's hard mounted to the outlet on the engine

Yeah, mine is a 5PW and it looks like it's way too far out to go under.
Not sure about a "tea strainer" though

It won't fit under without mods to the bonnet which I didn't want to do either so I moved it.
