I've just had a crash course in Mazda RX7s as I intend to use one for my next project. Now you won't get a car and LS1 V8 for that sort of
money which is what I inend to do. However I bought a non-runner with a worn rotary engine which I'm tempted to have a go at rebuilding. I can
do that for less than a £2K budget and possibly end up with a very fast great handling car.
If the engine proves to be beyond economical repair. The car I bought like many others has a lot of bolt on performance goodies. The exhaust system
alone on mine, which is made from titanium and worth over a grand, is more than I paid for the car! There's two turbos, the gearbox, engine for
parts, leather interior etc. Lots of parts to recoup the cost of the car.

It seems to me that given your past car history chasing speed is a futile exercise on your current budget.

If your considering an off roader, heres mine..
Russian , hard as nails, and goes anywhere !
You will have a lot of change from £2000, and the small pleasures of seeing a £20,000 Land Rover struggling off road then you drive it in a Niva and
have no problems, Priceless fun !
"Different is good"
PS I have just spent the last 90 mins trying to get it stuck in the worst snow I can find in Northumberland, I failed....

Reasonably scarce, but parts are easily available in the UK and very very cheap !
Fuel pump = £8
Wheel cylinders = £1 each
Brake shoes £10
Mine has 4x2 box section steel sills to replace all the rot, so good for hi lift jacking and ultra strong.
All interior removed, 2 Cobra bucket seats and thats about it.
great for hauling logs & rubbish
Ive got a 2.0 Fiat twincam in the garage to drop in if I can motivate myself.
Nivas Rock !
