master cylinder pushrods

I'm currently putting the pedal box together and it seems the master cylinder pushrods are too long? With them screwed into the clevis's as far as they will go the pedal is at a very sharp angle and needs to be more upright. Do the pushrods need to be cut down and if so by how much. Any help appreciated.

have you got any photos? I'd be tempted to leave as is unless your pedal is at 45 degrees or something

i made some spacers to go between the body of the m/c and the bulkhead to move the body further from the pedal and make the pedal more upright.
Will try and put a pic up later as am at work at the mo.

Yes you can cut the length of the master cylinder pushrods or do as tom suggests. As far as how much to cut off would be down to how far you want the pedal to be upright. I wouldn't think you need to take a lot off though.

I cut mine down. I'm 90% sure they still have enough travel but won't be sure until the car is finished.

Coming to the conclusion that they need cut down but not sure if that will give enough adjustment to get the pedal in the right position in relation to the throttle. If it needs more after that then the earlier post sugesting spacers is a good idea but not after I've just made my pipe installation!! Regarding adjustment I dont think travel will be the problem it is more having enough adjustment to balance the cylinders to the bias bar once the system is bled. I've hopefully attached a photo showing the pedal in its current state, this is with the pushrods screwed in up to the clevis's and then backed off 1 turn?

Hi

This problem is found on many off the kits. Don'T space the cyl's out your losing the strength of the bulkhead. The answer is to shorten the rods and tap the thread further down the rod's to enable the cyl's to be balanced.

Hi, not much help really but i have left them as is and they are at a near 45 deg angle which is how the rest of the pedals have ended up. Isnt how i would like them but for the moment it will do till its sva'd and i have a chance to see what settings work for me as remember its not like your everyday tin top where you sit relatively high up - your on your arse so its very different and with kit cars most things are hugely adjustable but you need to know where you want them first.

Thanks again everyone, cut 14mm off the pushrods, cant extend the thread down the pushrods as for some reason they are a reduced diameter below the thread but have made some half nuts as locknuts which has given a few more vital mm's. Looks as though the angle will be fine now the only issue is balancing the bias bar once the system is bled and if I need to screw a pushrod out to get the balance this will once again increase the angle.
