Fireblade carbs on a Pinto, advise please
Hoping someone can advise. I've done a search and cannot find much on Fireblade carbs.
I am running a Pinto with a Maxiflow II head with an RL1 cam. I have just fitted some Fireblade carbs and it seems to run OK.
I think that the only adjustment is that the previous owner changed the mains to 180.
Is anyone running Fireblade carbs? If so please can you help...
Have you blocked any of the air holes?
Have you done anything to the needles?
How far out have you adjusted the idle screws?
What mains are you using?
Do you use a filter?
Any other advice appreciated.

There's the Honda CBR600 workshop manual for the carbs HERE if
you've not already got it.
They're basically the same carbs as on the 900cc.

If this helps, I have Fireblade 900 carbs on my trials Skoda Estelle engine. Boggs did the tuning and Daddy Bogg removed the small spacer washer under
the head of the needles. They also drastically cut down the length of the needle springs, those that are miles long, are under the plastic covers on
the carb top and are a pig to get back in. I would think that at least a third was cut off the length. i cannot remember what jets I used but it
would not be relevant to your engine anyway.

Just remembered, I also use a Filter King to adjust the fuel pressure.

Thanks for the replies. I have printed off the CBR600 manual, very useful.
The springs - interesting that - as I also have some carbs off a ZX9R and the vacuum piston seem to fly upwards in comparison to the blade ones.
Maybe it would be a good idea to send it to Boggs to get them roughly right and overhauled?

Theres very little to go wrong with the carbs. You may find that it is worth getting another set and giving them a good going over yourself. By the
time you have paid postage and got Boggs to do it the price would probably be the same. As regards setting them up, I would bet Boggs need the car to
set things up on unless you are replicating an exact set up that they have already done.

i'd say 180s will be to big but dave bogg will no doubt be able to advise.
i'm running 150s in my 1.6 setup iirc. boggs started them at 160s and it returned near single figure mpg and was flat as a fart under about
5krpm. down at 150s, it's bright and lively throughout the rev range.
just use a bike fuel pump and no regulator required
