Will My Engine Run??

Little poll. megajolt setup with zx6r bike carbs on a 1600 pinto.

I have tested the mjolt on the bench and know it to be working. i have made the bike carb manifold and fitted the bike carbs to the engine. i have changed nothing on the bike carbs they are setup exactly the same as the day they were removed from the bike.

what do you think will it run or will it not start at all?

ash, the megajolt first-start procedure suggests that you should try it with just EDIS first (a la blakey) before megajolt is connected to anything.

It helps to narrow down problems if things don't go to plan.

Hey Ash,

I recently spoke to Bogg about jetting.

they drill out zx9rs to 1.8mm for 2l engines but they said that this is just a very general rule of thumb. Often when on the RR they run better less rich (at 1.7mm)

Again this is the zx9rs but the standard jet size is somewhere around 1.5mm - 1.6mm (testing with my own drill bit!) so I dont know whether to suggest running the zx6rs as standard on a 1.6l at first?

I very much doubt the standard jets will run it lean enough to damage anything so best to suck it and see. If the engine wont rev over 4000rpm then you know you need to have a play with them.

i ran mine at 1.50mm

The jet sizes before drilling were 1.15mm i ran it at that till i got round to drilling them out to 1.50mm

The fuel mixture setting will have to be adjusted bike carbs are set rich

my engine was 1600 pinto with plus 1mm pistons high pressure oil pump standard 2 litre camshaft with zx6r bike carbs timing set at 14 degree's btdcpower all the way through the range co% set at 2.5 this helps keep the pistons cool and full power

I ran a 1600 pinto on zzr1100 carbs,
the jets were drilled out to 1.5mm.
I had no problems at all.
