locating dowels

When I removed the head from my 2.0l pinto for a freshenup I noticed that there were no locationg tube or dowels for the head. Yet in one of the manuals it shows two and videos on you tube show them, are they vital? I would imagine they are? Does anyone know if they are available to buy from ford?

I wouldn't put the engine together without them, they locate the head and gasket, you certainly dont want the fire ring on the gasket misaligned.

I would guess they are pretty common across the Ford range and should be available.
