Or a 4AGE out of a MK1 MR2 / early Corolla... although thats only a 1.6. Yeah probably a 3SGE engine out of the Celica / MK2 MR2

If it is indeed a 3S-GE you're after (this is the 2 Litre block fitted to Mk2 MR2s, Celicas) then I suggest putting a wanted ad on IMOC
(www.imoc.co.uk/forums) or TwoBrutal (http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/) as they're of little use to the guys who take them out of their cars to
do a 3S-GTE (Turbo) or V6 conversion in their MR2s. Sometimes go quite cheap too!
There was no 3AGE and the 4AGE is indeed the 1.6 litre engine used in the Mk1s (also fairly cheap to get a hold of, though I love the one in mine so
you can't have it! ).

If it is indeed a 3SGE you are looking for then I suggest going for the later REV3 unit.
These are 173bhp ( or 177 for the JDM )
I have just bagged one on fleabay for £230.
35K miles.
Plenty available on fleabay right now, including a Redtop VVTi version.

3S-GE is the N/A 2 litre, JDM is "jap domestic market" - i.e. an imported car/engine. In actual fact there's bugger all difference
in the 3sge/gte engines between jap and UK, all the changes are in the mapping and model levels. Most of the non-turbo 2 litre celicas had them,
non-turbo MR2s (MKII) had them, and a few others.
Heavy beast of an engine for the power though, I'd only consider (and love) the GTE, but that's a side point.

Japanese Domestic Market - i.e. one from a car that was imported from Japan rather than originally sold in the UK.

I'll soon be importing some more JDM engines if any one is interested...

What car are you putting it in Nick?
There are issues if you are converting a Celica/MR2 3SGE to RWD.
I know. I've done it.

Hi,
Just picking up this. I am considering putting a 3sge in my car. What are the problems with it?

Lots of info on the net. Just search "3SGE RWD" on google.
There are issues when using the engine upright instead of leant over. Oil not draining back.
Reworking the cooling pipes. Finding a suitable gearbox/bellhousing. Awkward distributor position.
All these probs can be overcome, it just depends how determined you are.
Its a cracking engine though.
Mine runs on carbs and uses "coil on plug" ignition.
Geoff.
