Speedo Issue
Not 100% sure if this is in the right place, but anyhow....
I really need to sort out my Speedo inaccuracy. It over-reads by way too much and I want to try and sort it before the driving season gets going
proper.
It is a Type 9 5-speed box mechanical drive via a 90deg adapter to the speedo. I know there are different ways of sorting it, but what is the
collective view on the best, and cheapest!, method? I know the uber cheap route is to make a new face for it, but I don't want to do that if I
can help it as it will just end up looking tacky
Thanks.

Speedo Probs
Have similar speedo prob, (i.e. reading too high @ 70mph), during IVA Dynaroller test. Gotta get it fixed before re-test, so I will probably use these
guys :-
http://www.speedycables.com/index.html.
Not cheapest solution, maybe, but at least it'll be right. Am also using the 90deg adaptor on my g/box, via custom-made speedo cable.
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

there are different speedo driven gears available for the type 9 (22 & 23 I think) as well as different driving gears (8 or 9? but changing that
requires disassembly I think?)
some useful info here:http://www.duttonownersclub.co.uk/Members%20subweb/pdf%20files/speedo_calib.pdf

I have used Speedy cables a couple of times, very good service, but can take up to 4 weeks door to door
Ive been playing with speedo downloads for iphone, and the current one "speedometer" does exactlty the same as the tomtom
I will be using the phone as well, once the weather picks up

Some but not all radar speed limit warning signs are as accurate as most tintop digital speedos ie they read fast by about 1 to 3% --- with
your tintop look for one that gives a reasonably sensible reading an use this to get an estimate of your % error. Speedy cables can use this
to set up your speedo to get rid of the error.
Alternatively
If you have a Smiths speedo in a tiny font near the bottom of the drive there is a 3 or 4 digit number this is the number of turns per mile of the
speedo. Standard Ford speedos istr are 1000 tpm as are Triumph.
If you work out the tpm of the speedo cable you work using this as a basis.
For example with 185/70 13 tyres, a 3.89 diff and a Blue driven gear in the gearbox you get almost exactly 1000tpm of the cable.

I've just picked one of these sensors from from a breaker .. £5 .. Will use to drive my ETB electric speedo .. Do you have to give it power, or
are the signal wires enough?
Cheers !!

Hall effect sensors need power and earth.
