Where to mount fuses/relays
Just interested in what peeps have done with mounting the relays and fusebox. Id rather fit it somewhere which doesnt prevent the scuttle being
removed but it does look very tidy there and keeps them out of the way.
Any chance of some pics Vortx owners
Thanks
Rich

all of mine are hidden on that tube bar that goes just under the scuttle on L brakets
as the wiring loom comes with loads of rubber monts that an L bracket slips into perfectly all hidden though like you say youd have to remove the
inner scuttle or dash to get to them
but when you pop the bonnet you do get the tidiest job etc etc

Under scuttle. Passenger side bolted through the holes that are in the Relay holders. SVA man will want to see that it is secure
Where ever you can make it look tidy really and the wires wont rub through on any sharp GRP edges.
Fuse box just above pointing into engine bay so dead fuses can be spotted and changed quickley ish
make sure you have enough room to pull a relay to test or imobalise ( i have added two extra realys for the V8 EFI ) one fuel pump one EFI brain.
I have lots of things attached to the scuttle and it still only took me 30 minutes to remove. Though most things electrical are run through a couple
of multi pin conniectors

Made up an ally panel that sits behind/under the dash above the tunnel. Fuse boxes and relays are riveted/bolted to this with all wiring secured
behind (out of sight). I can get to the fuses and relays by kneeling next to thcar and poking my head under the dash. I also wrote on the plate what
fuse/relay does what and the correct value for ease of replacement.
All my wiring is then routed in split convuluted tubing, down into the tunnel and round th bulk head into the engine bay or down the tunnel to the
rear of the car.
The only thing on my engine bay scuttle area is the battery and the header tank.

I've got 12 relays in my setup so I bought some of the relay sockets from Premier Wiring and bolted them onto an ally plate (two rows of six
mounted back to back) behind the dash in a central position. The fusebox is plonked on top of the tunnel - I am going to make a clip-on plate so I can
bring out on a bit of slack loom for maintenance.
Cheers,
Raz

Thanks for the replies guys.
I guess the obvious place for me is the front face of the scuttle, into the engine compartment.
Ill make sure I get them high enough up so they dont interefere with coils/rectifiers etc.
Marc, theres no mention of relays or fuses in the build CD I have, sounds like mine is well corrupt - any news on the fixed one?
Rgds
