Depends on what brakes you are running on the back end, discs or drums.
You need to get the specific cable for either, then shorten it, you can buy a fastening for the end.

I used allegro cables for my drum rear. Originally had one piece sierra cable that was cut and clamped at the handbrake end but fell foul of Mr SVA.
They should pass now but Allegro seems fine. Supplied by Mac#1.

Kris,
You need a bog standard Sierra cable for any model with disc brakes and a quadrant from MNR. The cable inner is cut at the lever end, quadrant
attached and the cables are then clamped back onto themselves with wire rope clamps (MNR or B&Q).
There has been discussion about the SVA-ability of rope clamps but they are fine. Theres no need to mess about with the caliper end of the cable, or
use a different cable from a different supplier.

your local motor factor, £15-£20, mine was £18 iirc from Central Auto Supplies, my usual motor factor in Hinckley.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion

I paid 16 / 17 quid for mine from mac#1. most motor factors should have them.
Ref cable clamps i have been told that a bulletin has gone round Vosa test centres to say clamps are now OK. it was me that had a major issue in
December at Gosforth which led to an investigation. Hopefully all centres are now reading from the same rules. If in doubt ring up and confirm. You
need 2 clamps on each side of the quadrant iirc. (4 in total). Well overkill i know but i guess safety is key.
