SPROCKET NUT

I have tried to tighten the nut onto the new engine sprocket before putting the crank shaft on, but cannot get a socket in as the socket is to wide and will not go inside ths sprocket to tighten the nut.
Anyone know how.?

try a spanner end on, the tapered ends should fit into the hole.

I used an adjustable spanner on the nut and another on the first spanner to turn it. It was a bit heath robinson but it worked and nobody say me.

You might want to look for a suitably sized box spanner as they generally get in to tight areas where a socket can't. Either that or ask a friendly machine shop to turn your socket in their lathe and skim the outside down a bit, although obviously it will weaken it excessively if you do it too much!

What size socket does the sprocket nut require and what's the easiest way to get enough torque onto the nut whilst stopping the motor turning over?

Ta,

Chris.

Just as an aside, its 85NM torque for the sprocket nut with tab washer.
