Build order: interior and exterior panels
Hi all.
I saw in some diaries that some fit the interior panels and then the exterior tub, but the manual says the very contrary.
What is the easiest / best and why?

1st i fitted the exterior tub, marked up all the parts that needed cut on exterior, Fitted the interior ones and cut to shape etc
then removed both and made exterior final cuts, loose fitted the interior panels as these need to slot under tub edges, and then put the tub over the
top!
I havent fixed them down yet although they are all a nice snug fit and look pretty neat!
a Few pop rivots at a later date will stop them rattling, dont see the need to seal or stick them in place!
only took half a day to do the lot

You will need to fit the rear wings before the interior side panels if you want to be able to tighten up the bolts. I'd fit the interior side
panels last.

Bugger - looks like mine are coming back off then - good job I didnt use silkaflex............ah yeh I did.

i notched the interior panels while the body work was off, as its a bit of a 'mare to try and do that when you have to get them under the return
lip of the bodywork when its on.
i didnt fit them though, they are still off the car even though the bodywork is on.
you might also have trouble with fitting the rear bonnect catches if the interior panels are in.

I used pop rivets to hold mine on.
Got the special peel rivets thst umbrella on the inside.
About 10-12 on each wing and they are as strong as I think you need.
If it saves you taking it apart again....

Thanks ReMan, but to be honest I needed to anyway to get into the pedal box, this gave me the persuassion I needed to do it! The tub is back off,
scuttle cover off and interior panels off for now.
I have a heap of peel rivets here too so might employ them aswell.

Ive used peel rivets for the bonnet catches etc. They dont exert as much force on the surrounding material when pulled so theyre less likely to
damage the GRP.
The interior panels can be fitted at any stage, before or after the exterior, just dont attach them at the rear until you have fitted the rear arches,
this way they can be moved back to allow access.

would normally trial fit and check fit before body is on as per rear panel, makes it much easier to get a nice fit, then keep safe to one side till
the bodywork is on inc arches
