recomendation needed for wheel spacers

well just as above, I have 5 stud granada hubs and I'm looking for 4 x 20mm spacers. There certainly is a lot off different designs around, some look safer than others has any one found some that were good or bad? thanks.

I know its obvious but avoid steel as I ordered some without checking and they added 50% to the weight of the wheels (4.7Kg 15x7 Superleggeras, the 25mm steel bolt on spacers weighed about 2.3Kg each!)

The same in aluminium was about 800g.

I think TAD sell some German ones that are TUV approved? H&R one's maybe? Can't remember.

It's not that obvious, I'd have assumed there'd not be that heavy. TUV ones sound a good idea, cheers.

Here you go, I dug out the U2U:

"I saw your post about wheel spacers. We sell 20mm wide, TUV approved, Eibach bolt-on, aluminium ones for £85 inc. VAT for a set of 4 + delivery. Pretty much exactly what you're looking for!"

This was from "tadltd" he's a user on here, this was a year ago, he had some pretty cool car that he'd designed.

Ah pap, just did a search so I could give you a link to the website:

http://www.turner-auto-design.com/

Seems they've ceased trading.

Could still be worth a PM though?

I didn't actually buy these exact ones though as he replied after I'd paid about half as much again to get some customs ones made - DOH!

If he does still sell them or you find somewhere else decent please let me know / post it on here as I might need some more soon.

The other thing I'd say is make sure the spacers are self-centering. Most are, some aren't. Spacers that aren't can lead to annoying vibrations....

Oh yes forgot all about that. Hub centric is the phrase that pays and you also want ones that locate on the hub and offer the same correct diam for you wheels to locate on (the centre bore) as this is supposed to be what bears the bulk of the weight, not the wheel studs.

Hubcentric is the way

Got to be hubcetric, but at 20mm it may be hard to find alloy as you will almost certainly need to have wheel studs in the the spacer as extending from original hub may be difficult.

I used 25mm steel but they are real heeavy and if i could source alloy i would go for that.

good luck

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting 20 -25mm bolt on spacers, I assume thats what you meant.

As I said tadltd offered to supply them and I got some custom made in the end for about 120quid for the set

The sort which have extra wheel studs bolted in are not allowed in motorsport so if you ever intend to compete find something else. Also useful to know as presumably it relates to the safety of that type of spacer overall.
