Help! Pedals not vertical!
Hi All,
I have assembled the pedal box for my VortX (It is the separate type that bolts in but is otherwise near identical to the welded in version) and the
pedals are nowhere near vertical. They are quite steeply angled toward the driver even though I have the balance bar assembly screwed all the way onto
the master cylinder actuation rods. Has any one else had this problem? What is the correct angle for the pedals?
I may be able to get the pedals much closer to vertical if I cut off 15mm of surplus thread from the cylinder actuation rods. An alternative may be to
put spacers between the cylinders and bulkhead. Has anyone used either of these solutions?

I would have thought they SHOULD lean towards the driver - and be just about vertical (maybe a little past) when fully depressed.
I have floor mounted pedals and designed them myself - they work fine and as described above.

I cut the push rods down IIRC my peddals are almost vertical at rest.
This is mainly due to my lankie legs.
Tip ( place a NUT on before cutting the pushrod ) and wind the NUT of after( it will clean the thread.

Mine are like that also. The brake pedal leans forward a long way from the clutch pedal.
I am also at my wits end with the cylinders because every time I press the pedal I get a leak around the inlet from the reservoir.
I am thinking of stripping the whole lot down and starting again

Hi As said shorten the rod length. But just make sure that the cylinders can be pushed to there full travel before the pedal reaches the bulkhead.
Cheers Matt

hi clive
just remove some of the threaded portion till your happy with the position ( set this up with you seated in the correct position )
us vertically challenged pilots dont need to remove any of the thread

Funny how last time we had the heated discussion over your size you said the greater weight helped you go down faster, "hills on
ski's" I mean. Nothing personal.

Hey Mate,
In a vacum you'd be able to keep up (witness the feather and ball experiment on the NASA moon landings, feather and ball hit the surface at the
same time) but in the real world of wind resistance skiiers like feathers will always be beaten by skiers with balls!!!!
