Front cycle wing brackets

Hey guys,
what sort of distance do you leave between the brackets and tyres?

i don't have my wheels and tyres yet.
now i have 14" sierra wheels with 185 65 14
and i'm fitting 15" with 195 50 15

going by my calculations, with are never great my overall wheel size would be about the same!?
think the sierra will be 1cm bigger

As close as you can get them without touching and allow a bit for gravel in your tread!

Hi John,

I would have thought the brackets would have to be as wide as the inside diameter of the front arch, so that the tube of the wing stay sits inside and the arch rests on the tube without any spacers, if you see what I mean.
Mark on the arch where the wing stays will be front and back then measure centre to centre.
I will take a measurement between my front and rear stays if you want.

I may be talking a load of rubbish though but that's how I see it.
