Fitting steering rack

spent the afternoon starting fitting the main bodywork, got up to needing to cut the holes out for the exaust and all the front end stuff.
How does the steering rack get fitted, do you have to flex the fiber glass out around it, before it's fixed into place, can the arms be removed, or is it a case for cutting slots from the front.

Sierra rack or Escort?? The arms unscrew with the help of a set of stiltsons, or if your lucky they will have flats on to get a big spanner on.

i had all the arms fitted before i made the holes for the steering rack.

i used a ruler to project a line out from where the steering rack sits, and then drilled the holes for it. as long as your hole is big enough for the gaiter on the steering rack to go through you can easily get it into place with the body work on.

Just bend both arms up, slot the rack in from inside the car, and push it through the hole in one side far enough so that you can drop the rack in, and then straighten the arms, and slid the rack back through the other hole

yea its very easy to do, but its easier to fit the rack on first into correct position, remove the ends, fit body work and then re-fit ends...just did colins Mnr this weekend like that... drilled 78mm holes for every thing...looks very neat!
