Had some fuel starvation issues yesterday - http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=191347
So had a look at the fuel filter just before my carbs, one of the little plastic jobs, which I had mounted into a bracket to hold it. With filter
fitted, took 20.2 seconds to fill a small glass, with filter removed, 7.5 seconds!
When I removed the fuel filter I was horrified to see the state of it -

The whole unit was deformed, with one nipple bent like a banana, the body seemed to be imploding and the nipples were both oval. This is mounted just
below my carbs on the opposite side to the exhaust and all I can think is that it has deformed with the under bonnet temps. I was lucky to get away
without this one failing, which has only been in the car for 600 miles, and daren't consider what could have happened.
New glass and metal one on order, but just a heads up to anyone else who may have used this type. Ironically, it was in there for IVA and he actually
commented that it was nice to see the filter secured!
You might want to re-think that one david,

I was warned about these glass ones a couple of years ago, they can also fracture due to vibration, get a metal one much safer mate.

I use a Kart filter and it's doing the job fine.
Serviceable Alloy Inline Fuel Filter 8mm quad trike mx BLUE
Originally I used the glass one as it seemed to make sense to be able to see if it's flowing fuel and what kind of condition the filter is in but
the seals on it went bad very quickly indeed and it started leaking. It was only after this I read all the horror stories about the glass filters
breaking or loosening off costing a few guys their cars.
The kart filter is small, does the job and the element can be removed and cleaned so you never need to buy another one.

Thanks for the heads-up.
My logic was similar to that above....I thought it would be a good idea to be able to see the fuel flow and any debris collected in the filter.....
however after reading this thread, Ive changed from one of these;
UNIVERSAL 10MM 3/8 CHROME &' GLASS INLINE FUEL FILTER - PETROL &' DIESEL
to one of these;
In Line Fuel Filter 10mm Tails Carb Or Fuel Injection 30 Micron Billet Alloy
Bugger!
Wish I'd seen this thread 10 mins ago as I've just removed an old plastic one that was also deformed and then proceeded to order a glass
one! Looks like I might have to re-order a nice Aluminium one instead!

Better than having to order a fire engine Leon.

Just the same as the small plastic filters, thin part to the tank and the thick part to the carb.
In the past I have use the stock Sierra item.
