I've just bought and MNR Vortex part built, and need ot hire a van to collect it. I have been recommended to get a mercedes sprinter, but no companies in the area seem to have the extra long wheel base version and I'm worried it won't fit in the normal wheel base version.

The dimensions of the interior of the van are 3.53m long by 1.6m wide.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the MNR vortex chassis so that I can make sure it will fit.

thanks

hello and welcome to the mad world of kit building

where is the kit and where do you need to transport it to..

might find someone local with a trailer who can help..

Most 3.5t Luton/box/pickup vans will be big enough, or try for a long wheelbase Iveco.

have you got a tow bar because hiring a trailer is much much cheaper can hire one in pompey for 25 pound a day! so might be a better option!

It depends how "part built" it is......

If it's got the suspension / wheels on it you'll struggle to get it in a van. So a trailer might be more useful. (However protecting the bodywork if it's loose on an open trailer will be tricky)

I used a LWB Iveco to pick my Indy kit up.

Make sure you are really carefull packing the fibreglass, take spare tape and a couple of rolls of bubble wrap.

Good luck with the build.

Cheers

Mike

not sure if its relevant either but you need a pre 1997 license to drive the extra long sprinter due to its weight class.

They never said anything to me about that, I know my licence goes up to 3500kg thought the lwb vans were about that anyway...

It's only the Sprinters with the twin rear wheels, single wheel ones are rated at 3500kg.

Oh good, thought I could have been in trouble then if Plod had decided to pull me over!

Thanks guys, I've decided to jusy hire the biggest van I can find it's long wheel based so should hold it all in. If not I will just have to put some carpet or bubblewrap round the end and tie the dorrs half shut.

It's not got the suspension on etc. so width isn't a problem (I hope lol).

the van I have is 3.56 Metres long inside - fingers crossed it is enough.
