Is there any truth in that Westfield are advising avoiding the Freelander diff (for hayabusas?) because they aren't up to the job?
Does anyone know what the lightweight alternatives are? Do quaife offer an alternative for eg?

I am pretty sure it might be to do with supplies of the Freelander 1 diff --- i am prety sure the Freelander 2 dosen't use the same diff as
the Freeander 1

I was told the mk 2 diffs have bigger /stronger bearings then the mk1
i was under the impression that the mounts for F1 and F2 diffs are the same.
the diff in my busa is the disco one - westfield uses quaife internals - been fine so far - i have seen the casing snap on one a few years back but only because of a bolt that fell out..

If it freelander then aim for Freelander 2.
Didn't now disco was an option.
Either way, the internals will be Quaife and I think I should be able to specify the mounts as the chassis isn't built yet, so can anyone suggest
a strong but LIGHT casing which could work? I would prefer to pay a little more or search longer for a lightweight one.

f not, do that before you get a diff. 2wd Cosworth diffs are 7.5" and will not fit a Caterham for example . . . well, not easily. Plus
you'll be farting about with new driveshafts and stuff.
Also, IIRC, the 7.5" Cosworth diff is 3.64:1 which is not suitable for a Busa track car if you want the light 13" wheels/tyres. The Cossie
LSD unit will need adjustment to be suitable for a light car as well.
For a Busa with 13" wheels, the common diff is the 3.14:1 7" Sierra diff (from Mk1 diesels and 4 speed Mk1 V6).
People have used the 2.9:1 BMW diff in Caterhams in the past (something I want to do) so this might be an option. You'll need to find a suitable
LSD of course and have drive shafts made up.

the chassis will be Raw Striker, and it looks like Westfield sell the complete modded Freelander unit with Quaife internals. At least that is what Raw
said would be a good bet.
