Jason Fletcher - 10/2/08 at 03:55 PM

Hi guys

just in the throws of altering my busa loom for BEC use and I hear I need to fool the ECU into thinking its in 5th gear to I get good acceleration in all gears. Does anyone know how I do this??

Thanks in adavance

the busa will have a gearbox gear switch wich connects a wire from the MCU to ground...

so look up in the sheme wich wich wire is 5th gear.

and disconnect every other gear and resolder 5thgear wire to every other gear.

in that case neutral will still be neutral and else it will be 5th.

I have no clue if the busa mcu looks out for the sequence from N to 1 etc. etc.

if it does only connect 5th gear to ground and totally disconnect the rest of the wires.

only thing will be that you need to press clutch to start...

Regards,

Tks

You could fit a GIPRO,gear indicator, they have a built in retard iliminator,Ive got one on my zx10r,removes retard on 1st to 4th gears, even has a soft or hard setting, and also you can just turn it off,so could be handy in wet conditions.

I think what you want is a tre, timing retard eliminater,
used them on all my suzuki road and race bikes,
cost about 20 quid on ebay and mcn
made a hell of a difference to my bikes
hope this helps
cheers

apparently I will need to get a Power commander for SVA allow me to do the same job and more as the timing retard gizmo?

thanks

Powercommander will only adjust fuel. As a previous poster said - get a Gipro gear indicator with inbuilt TRE.

just fitted a GIpro to mine and the improvement is very notiable in the lower 4 gears and the gear indicator works a treat
Highly recommended bit of kit

The good thing about the GI Pro is that you can easily turn TRE on of off . . there are several options infact (though not sure what they are now). Being able to select a soft mode may prove useful for wet weather or cruising about the road. In conjunction with the 08 Busa selectable maps, you will have a number of options.

BikersDiscountStore are cheap and prompt.

One thing though . . .. check that the 08 Busa uses same resistances as pre08 motor - just to ensure your a GIPro will work properly.
