Fred W B: The overhang from the C/L of the front wheels is ~780mm (4" of ground clearance doesn't look like a lot once it's sitting on the ground).

Doug - that looks really comfy in there! I would be interested to know any details you might have regarding the fitting of your combination. Does the trans mate up to the V8 with a standard adaptor (I presume its custom made) What sort of distance is between front of the engine to the driveshafts etc.

Soarer V8s are very cheap in the UK and my V6 is looking a bit tame recently - I sense a cunning plan coming on

Hi Razman,

The flywheel - adapter are a custom combo to my design. They cost more than the engine to get made.
A transaxle with a detachable bell housing like a Renault UN1 might make life a lot easier to achieve the connection.

From the front of the crank pulley to the CL of the output flanges is ~840mm

BTW these engines are known to make 1000+ BHP with sufficient work, so it's just a question of throwing money at it until you're scared to put your foot down

Hi, looks like a nice build, plenty of triangulation! A quick question - why the Toyota engine and box/block adapter when there are other similarly powered, cheaper available combinations? (Audi V8 springs to mind)

I live in Australia Audi's over here are and always have been stupidly expensive, so their V8 would be a lot of money to source.
The Lexus V8 on the other had is cheap as chips brought in 2nd hand from Japan.

Ah fair enough then, as I was looking at the 4.2V's myself as one possibility, and they come in fairly cheap for a full engine/transmission combination (around £1000).
