Loton park or Curborough practise day
strikerbird - 26/12/13 at 01:52 PM

Hi, I'm new to the forum and was just wondering if anyone had done a members only practise day at either Loton or curborough.
I've joined both clubs for next year to do some sprinting and hillclimbing, maybe the days would be a good start into the sport.
I did a school day at Loton this year and had a great day but it was only a hand full of us, I'm wondering how busy the practise days get.
Simon.

As far as I know, any one can hire Curborough for general testing by contacting David Pattisson. We normally hire it for 5 of us (maximum at any one time) in either the morning or afternoon sessions. Be adviced that there are no marshalls or medics on site so not advisable to be on your own in case something goes wrong......

HDLCC run two pre season test days at end of March usually, but its basically a non spectator 'event' so with a load of drivers and no return road, you will get between 4-6 runs max.

Curbs can be hired mid week and you get unlimited runs.

Curbs gets you mileage, great for pre season rust removal but if you can stretch to it, try and do a loton test as its simply a proper hill 8)
My fave hill, and only 3 miles from home for me

Alternatively you could use the 'new' Blyton Park circuit near Gainsborough. Quick and safe with plenty of run off should you need it.....

can you hire blyton for half days?

Blyton is none road-registered cars only for private hire, but you can always takes the plates off your motor and trailer it to the track I guess.

Blyton is £180+vat for a half day I believe.

Think I might try one of the practise days at Loton as I've driven it before.
Looks like it's the first weekend in April and there's a practise at curborough the last weekend in March.

Thoroughly recommend Loton Park, i've marshalled there for 10+ years. A good length hill, difficult to get it right but all the better when you do. Very friendly people to look after you. See you there?
