GRP Seat Options
David H - 28/12/10 at 10:22 PM

I've been looking at options for GRP seats and have found the following:

jkcomposites.com
tritonraceseats.com
kitcarpartsdirect.com

I looks to me like the kitcarpartsdirect and trition seats are the same. Can anyone comment if they are the same or indicate any differences?

Also, any experience with kitcarparts direct in terms of reliable delivery dates and general service?

Thanks,
David

I'm sure Triton will be along shortly to say if he supplies other resellers or not.

Cheers

triton seats are more solid than the jkcomposites ones, which means that Triton can be mounted from the bottom.

The jk composites ones (at least the ones I have) are very light (good), but need the back supporting (bad).

The triton seats were too wide for my car, interestingly the driver side was close to fitting, but the passenger side was never going to work. Phoenix/Striker is a bit tight.

Quality for jkcomposites and triton are both good as is customer service.

i have got tritons, have done thousands of miles in them and never once felt uncomfortable. one year when my car was on display a chap that was at least 25stone (being kind) wanted to see if he could fit in the car before he ordered a chassis, i really thought he was going to break the seat as he had no chance of fitting, but even under a huge amount of stress from him trying to balance off the headrest they didn't break.

I had nothing but trouble with kit parts direct.

triton = excellent service, and comfy seats, even with no pads. Mind you, not been out for more than 5 minutes at a time in autoslaloms...

I think Triton make more than one seat width.
I have a pair and find them to be good.

Howdy and hope you all had a proper crimbo.......

Triton seats have been around for the last 6 years or so now with quite a few sold you might say, bums on seats and happy campers says it all....
When kit car firms approach to want to buy them you know you are doing something right as Triton seats are asked for by name..
I'm quite sure Ed and Em are in the throws of setting up a dealer down under so folk upside down can have proper seats without daft freight charges....all from a humble cow shed start up, how cool is that!!!

nz_climber - 29/12/10 at 11:02 PM

I am looking forward to getting a dealer down here. Hoping it happens

I hope Ed and Em are aware that seats used in the roadgoing market in Aus need to be ADR Approved. A simple test, but the paperwork is crippling! And the beaurocracy is even worse!!

Cheers,
Nev.

I had some of the JK composite ones... really nice, and a great price, but by the time I'd added the frames, covers and bits I'd doubled the price! Still worth it though
